Full Body Cryotherapy is a short, controlled exposure to extremely cold, dry air inside a specialist cryotherapy chamber. At Recovery at the Hub, cryotherapy is used as a recovery and wellness treatment, with the aim of providing a rapid cold stimulus to the body.
Unlike an ice bath, you are exposed to cold air rather than being immersed in water. A typical whole-body cryotherapy session lasts only a few minutes.
How It Works
During a session, the body is briefly exposed to very low temperatures.
The intense cold causes the body's blood vessels near the skin to constrict temporarily. Once you leave the chamber and begin warming up, circulation to the skin and tissues increases again.
This rapid cold stimulus may influence:
Blood flow and circulation
Pain perception
Inflammatory pathways
Muscle recovery
The body's nervous-system response to cold
Research suggests that WBC can influence inflammatory markers and may improve perceived recovery and muscle soreness in some people.
Key Benefits of Cryotherapy
Regular full body cryotherapy benefits include:
1
Supports exercise recovery
Cryotherapy can form part of a post-training recovery routine and may help with the perception of muscle soreness following demanding exercise.
2
May reduce muscle soreness

3
Supports the body's inflammatory response
Recent research suggests WBC may influence certain inflammatory markers.
4

5
Supports active lifestyles
It can be incorporated into a wider recovery programme for people who train regularly or have physically demanding lifestyles.
6
Short and convenient

Cryotherapy chambers use extremely cold, dry air, often below −100°C. Despite the very low air temperature, the exposure is deliberately brief and the dry air does not cool the body in the same way as immersion in cold water.
The exposure itself is typically only 3-5 minutes, depending on the equipment and treatment protocol. Your RATH team will advise you on the appropriate session duration.
It can feel very cold and intense, but it should not be painful. You may experience tingling, skin cooling and some shivering. If you feel that something is not right, tell the team immediately.
Yes, cryotherapy can be incorporated into a post-exercise recovery routine. Research suggests it may help some people with perceived muscle soreness and recovery, although the evidence is not conclusive.
There is no universally established frequency that is right for everyone. Your ideal frequency depends on your training, recovery goals and individual circumstances. For regular users, our team can help you develop a sensible recovery routine based on your needs.
